Welcome to Valmalenco, where authenticity is not just a word but the heart of a story spanning three generations. We are the Vismara family, and we have always invested in our mountains with love, passion and respect for the community that lives in this valley.

We are a local, family-run business, built with the courage of those who dare to look ahead. From here came Snow Eagle, the largest cable car in the world – a symbol of a vision that brings together respect for the territory and ambition.

This portal was created from that same idea: the desire to welcome you to a valley shaped by people who love, protect and deeply know these mountains, offering you a complete, authentic, and genuine mountain experience.

Innovation, Vision and Passion

Everything began with the pioneering vision of Cavaliere del Lavoro Francesco Vismara: to connect skiers to the mountain peaks and make the beauty of the valley accessible not only to the local community, but to anyone wishing to experience the true spirit of the mountains.

This vision, nurtured with dedication and expertise, helped transform the ski area into an internationally recognised destination.

Funivia Al Bernina continued to grow under the leadership of Franco Vismara, supported by local professionals such as Livio Lenatti, ski lift manager and descendant of a historic family of alpine guides.

Today we have reached the third generation, with Francesca Vismara, who continues to carry forward the same philosophy based on two fundamental values:

Respect for history and tradition – operating in harmony with the territory and its community
A constant drive for innovation – improving, evolving and embracing the challenges of today and tomorrow.

This vision led to our most important achievements. Everything began with Snow Eagle, the largest cable car in the world, symbolizing a bold ambition that has led, over the years, to new lifts, continuous upgrades and Valmalenco’s inclusion in the international FIS Freestyle and Snowboard World Cup circuit.

Our journey has also extended beyond the mountains, with the Big Air event in Milan during Expo 2016 and 2017, bringing the excitement and technique of alpine freestyle to the heart of the city.

Behind every cable and every chairlift lies our promise: a safe, reliable service that reflects the true authenticity of Valmalenco.

From Cable Car to Hospitality: Valmalenco at your Fingertips

Our commitment to Valmalenco goes far beyond the ski slopes.

Over the years, we have chosen to invest in a culture of hospitality, working in synergy with other local businesses to offer authentic experiences in every season.

The first step came in 2018 with the creation of the “2 Cuori in Pista” suite at 2,100 meters – a unique engineering project created by transforming a retired snowcat into an iconic mountain hospitality experience.

Soon after, the first high-altitude accommodation opened at 1,700 meters in Barchi, offering a new and more immersive way of experiencing the mountains.

The enhancement of the valley continued with Chalet Ca’ Latrones, located on the shores of Lake Palù: a historic Valtellina mountain chalet dating back to 1873, protected as a cultural heritage site and today restored with luxury finishes while preserving its original identity. More recently, the restoration of Hotel Chalet Rezia in the centre of Chiesa in Valmalenco has allowed us to expand our hospitality offering, making it accessible also to guests with disabilities.

This is how we carry forward the vision of those who came before us: offering visitors a complete and meaningful way to experience everything the valley has to offer.

Chiesa in Valmalenco is the main town in the Valmalenco valley.

Located just behind Sondrio and surrounded by the mountain groups of Disgrazia, Bernina and Scalino, together with Caspoggio and Lanzada, it forms a renowned tourist destination.

Popular with hikers and bikers – especially cross-country and freeride enthusiasts – Chiesa is best known for its ski area, offering more than xxx km of slopes and lifts suitable for alpine skiing, Nordic skiing and snowboarding at every level, from beginners to professionals.
