Cycling with the Whole Family

Valmalenco offers perfect cycling routes for those who want to experience the mountains at a relaxed pace, immersed in nature.

Family-Friendly Routes:

Chiesa in Valmalenco – San Giuseppe
A peaceful route immersed in greenery, ideal for children and relaxed cycling. The path crosses meadows and forests and offers beautiful views over the valley.
Palù Park – “Boletus” Trail
An easy route suitable even for young children, accessible via the Snow Eagle cable car or by cycling from San Giuseppe.
Caspoggio Pump Track
A dedicated area for children to learn bike control in a fun and safe way.

These routes are also ideal during the shoulder seasons, when the valley turns golden with larch colours and the milder temperatures make cycling even more enjoyable.

Mountain Biking & Downhill

For those seeking more adrenaline, Valmalenco offers numerous MTB trails with varying levels of difficulty.

More experienced riders can take their bikes up to high altitude via the Snow Eagle cable car and set off from the Alpe Palù trails for panoramic descents through forests and alpine pastures.

Most Interesting Routes:

Alpe Piasci – Rifugio Bosio
A challenging route with around 1,100 metres of elevation gain and a duration of approximately two hours. From the mountain hut, you can enjoy an extraordinary view of Cima Disgrazia.
Campo Moro
A perfect area for experienced riders, offering more technical trails and spectacular views over the Valtellina mountains.
Descent towards San Giuseppe and Chiesa
After a break in the high-altitude mountain huts, you can return to the valley by road or follow the forest trails down to Primolo.

Cycling, Nature and Mountain Flavours

Cycling in Valmalenco also means discovering the valley’s most authentic side.

Many routes lead to mountain huts, agriturismos, and local farms, where you can stop for a break and taste typical Valtellina products such as pizzoccheri, alpine cheeses, and homemade desserts.

A great example is Malga Rundai, a perfect stop for those who want to combine sport, nature, and local food traditions.

Enjoy the Mountains Safely!

Before heading into the mountains, always check the weather conditions, choose the right equipment, and plan your route according to your level of experience. If in doubt, rely on local mountain guides or check the latest trail and snow conditions.
